This exact moment will be forever etched in my mind as the greatest moment of Fear during the entire process of opening this location. It was about 3:30am the Friday of the move, I had no sleep, I already trained a full day of clients, still had a full load of morning clients & the 10 hour move to come.
I had gotten to the new location at 11pm & had been laying & hammering this rubber tile all night. I was only this far along 4 1/2 hours later. Robby, one of the wall mural artists was there with me and I was so thankful. I can remember looking up at him, "Robby I am so glad you are here working with me." I sat in the corner completely exhausted & reflected.

Less than 30 days ago I signed the lease on this gym & since that moment I had been working, eating, & sleeping to breath life into this space. For my career there is no laid out rulebook on how to do all the things I want to do, it isn't easy but I like it that way b/c I get to make my own rules. A few rules from my book: 1.) If I want something I will move the earth to make it happen & I want it done yesterday 2.) I am definitely a Dreamer, I have Big/Crazy/Unconventional Ideas that need to become my reality 3.) When I say I'm going to do something my words have weight, it will be done.
My Fear stemmed from the fact that I had worked for years to be able to do this, months to find a location, & I had done everything in my power over the last few weeks to bring my vision together. At that very moment sitting in the gym I wasn't sure if my 3 rules were going to come together b/c this space was definitely not even close to what I had envisioned. I had the weekend to get this gym ready, b/c Monday morning I had a full clientele coming down. After my moment of fear I did what I know works, I went back to work & stayed focused. I finished laying all the tile just in time to run home shower & train my am clients.

Mark Wilson of
Partners in Projects & a good friend of mine showed up with a crew rollin' bout 12 deep, they were phenomenal! They broke down the gym & loaded it up in about 2 hours. The move into the gym was the next 8 hours. See of course it's amazing to have a loft style gym on the 4th floor downtown, but it doesn't happen w/o skilled movers breaking down and skillfully loading equipment into a 100 year old small freight elevator.

Friday night all the mats were down & trimmed, & the equipment was completely setup. Friday at 10:30pm, I felt my first moment of relief that the gym was coming together.

The next day I was up early for the Turf install! I had 3 guys install this bad boy in about 4 hours. This definitely was a different picture from 4:30am Friday, a little over 24 hours later it was a massive overhaul.

So during the day the equipment, turf, & staining the floors, & by night the wall mural was going up. I would stop in at 1am to see how the art was coming along and touch base.

By Monday, the earth had been moved.......The
Sweat Training that I had been creating in my mind was now a reality!
I see people let Fear tell them that a healthy fit body is this unattainable thing for their life, but it is so attainable! Fear is a NORMAL roadblock that is going to happen on the way to what you want. Don't Focus on the roadblock, Focus on the goal. Have your moment of fear, then focus and get back to work. You have nothing to gain but strength and a better body. Those two things are so invaluable that they are worth every moment of work & every mental battle of fear on the path to get there. It took me years & many moments of fear to create this A-mazing work of art that I get to call my
Gym, but I always was willing to do the work & knew no matter how long it took it WOULD happen one day. Changing your body takes time.......keep at it b/c it will happen if you stay focused & always work through the Fear.
