Health & Fitness Motivation!

Arts Wave creates community through the arts & this Sunday they enlisted the help of Higher Level Art, the artists painting Sweat's gym mural, to Paint The Streets! The project was a massive street painting of 12th street from Main to Central Parkway. Starting before dawn, Danny was chalking the streets,

Matthew was nonstop marching the streets on the walkie,

& Lisa Maly (my friend from back in my Ursuline days) of Arts Wave was keeping things running smoothly.

Cincinnatians filled 12th street all day painting away as the street design took life.

What I found interesting about this project was the beauty, art, & community that came from talent, uniqueness, planning, & hours of work the day of the event. No doubt these organizers stretched themselves to create community through street art.

This reminded me of a conversation that I had with one of my clients last week. He said to me, "Danielle, I train with you b/c you push me to the point past where I think I can go & then you ease up. I know when I get pushed to that point I am doing something worthwhile. "

Make Your Body a Work of Fine Art!

Last week I went to an art showing at a local Cincinnati clothing store, Unheardof Brand, the street pusher of rare goods. From the design of the shop to all the apparel the store screams unique. The Cincinnati Bengals & Reds were prevalent throughout the store with the Bengals art show, Famous Reds Players on the walls, and Bengal themed Ts. It was also really great for me to see another young local Cincinnati entrepreneur's creative vision.

Artwork of athletes if very appealing to my eye since I see the body as a work of art that can be molded and shaped. I see myself as a bit of an artist creating works of art that don't sit in a gallery, but walk the streets for all to view. Molding and shaping muscles to create a symmetrical shape for each unique individual to me is a fine art. I enjoy working with every person that I train to make what is already unique even more so.

Here are My Tips to molding and shaping your Fine Art:

1. To reshape & become more symmetrical Resistance Training is a must! Resistance Training involves your body weight, bands, dumbbells, machines, & jumping exercises.
2. Resistance Train 3 times per week.
3. To tone stay in the 15 rep range, to build more size10-12 rep range.
4. Do 3 sets for each exercise.
5. Make your body more symmetrical by training the parts that need work. Everyone loves to train that parts that look great, but that won't help to make you more symmetrical it will do the opposite.

NOTE:
The Male & Female Training Trend.

Men......please start training legs, your chest & shoulders are big enough....haha!
Women.....your legs and buns are looking good so start training those arms!

Race Training Tips!

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati 2010....5th Street was packed with Lederhosen, Bier Madchens, Chicken Hats, Deutsch Pastries, Brats, Bier, & Potato Pancakes! My favorite part......the chicken hats......I don't know if this concept stemmed from the chicken dance or what, but people walking around with chicken hats on....awesome!

My cousin Ann who I have been training for about 4 years now is also training for a race in San Francisco that benefits lukemia & lymphoma. So, to raise money she was working a beer booth at the event......and yes she even sported A Bier Madchen outfit which she looked oh so cute in.


Here are my Race Training Tips to help you across the finish line!

1. High intensity circuit training & sprint training are supplemental ways to increase endurance & improve your running pace.
2. Resistance training will help increase your flexibility (which limits injuries), protects joints, & improve your running posture.
3. Train the backside of your body.....your back & your hamstrings (the back of your legs).

Hamstrings: Balancing the strength of the front of your legs even with the back is great for speed, strength, & injury prevention.

Back: A strong back will keep you running upright the entire race so that you can keep pace & your lungs can full expand.

How To Slim Down Fast!


When you combine exercises you Build & Burn more Effectively.

1. You are burning more fat b/c you are increasing the intensity
2. Building/targeting more muscles at once
3. Challenging your coordination
4. Typically engaging more of your core (abs/back)

A Lunge combined with a Row is a great way to target mainly your legs & back while additionally hitting your arms and core. The band is great to use for lunges b/c it helps keep your balance & form. All the equipment you need is you & a band. Reps: 3 sets of 15 on each leg.

Tips:
1. Chest out
2. Narrow Elbows
3. 90 degree bend in both knees
4. Weight in your back foot
5. Back Heel should be nice and high

Burn Fat Fast!


If you are trying to be Lean & Toned then you have to keep your heart rate up between exercises. A great way to do this is with a speed rope, which is beneficial to you in many ways:

1. It keeps you mentally focused & in your workout
2. It helps you burn off the fat that's covering your amazing shape
3. Great for shaping calves
4. Increases coordination
5. Impact is great for bones & at the same time easy on joints
6. It inexpensive $5-10
7. Easy to use at home & doesn't take up space
8. You can travel with it

How to utilize this piece of equipment in your workout:

1. Make this a set station between sets in your workout.
2. Do 2 exercises, then jump rope, & repeat 3 times. Next choose 2 new exercises to combine with your jump rope station.
3. When you jump go for 100 jumps as fast as you can or 1 minute & count the # of jumps you get to try and improve on your speed.
4. Vary the jumping technique to increase your heart rate/intensity: high knees, kicking your glutes with your heels, single leg jumps, jumping jacks, torso twists.

Home Fitness Gym Equipment!


Sweat's New location is under construction! Day 1 of construction let me give you a video tour of the facility and see how I'm designing the layout of the gym & equipment. Hopefully it can help to inspire your home gym facility!

Tips for your Home Gym:

1. Flooring:
Horse Matting at The Tractor Supply Store. It's inexpensive, no shipping cost (b/c you buy it in store), 1 mat covers a lot of square footage, & it's heavy/durable.

2. Equipment Basics:
Bench, Dumbbells, Bands, Swiss Ball, & Jump Rope. You can do a lot with these pieces, then add from there.

Health & Wellness In Downtown Cincinnati: Sweat & The City




In June I moved my residence Downtown to a Loft & in October Sweat Training will be moving Downtown to an Urban Loft Style Gym on the 4th Floor of 18 West 7th Street between Vine & Race Street.

To give you a reference it's the old camera shop building (yellow sign) with Jean Robert's New Restaurant Table around the corner, LPK Design behind on 8th, & Jeff Ruby's east one block on 7th. The View from the New Gym.....Killer!



This location is my Dream Gym & I am pinching myself that my dream is becoming a reality. I get to work and train clients in the ONLY LOFT STYLE PERSONAL TRAINING/BOOT CAMP GYM in DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI!

If you live/work in or near Downtown & have been looking for that gym that is unique, personal, convenient, & has legit/effective training....you just found it! Indoor Group Boot Camps & Team Atmosphere Personal Training a walk away.....Nothing Like It!

Gym's have to have a Vibe and this gym has the Vibe of a Serious/Athletic/New York Gym......I can't believe I get to train and work here. To me a gym has to inspire you, take you out of your day to day life, & foster passion......this gym makes you want to Train!


This is the raw space, soon to be built out with an office, shower, paint job, flooring, & equipment. The 2,700 sq. ft space has a 14 foot ceiling, exposed ventilation, and massive windows that let in the light & open up to the sounds of the hustle and bustle of the city.


When I walked into this space I Fell-In-Love, this is the space I had always envisioned.....and after 5 years of Sweat & 2.5 years in my first location it was time. I can't explain how badly I had to have this space from that moment forward (Sean, my A-mazing agent/commercial mogul, definitely knew.....& made it happen). This space represented my growth as an entrepreneur......my dream to create, build, share, grow, experience, challenge/be challenged.....and all the years of work, sacrifice, obstacles I had to go through to get HERE......it's HERE!

This space also represents something else.... Sweat Training as a Brand Paired with Perfection to it's training style. Sweat brings the camaraderie, competition, intensity, and physical progress that comes from taking part in a sport into the gym environment. At Sweat I am the Owner/the only Trainer & I specialize/will continue to specialize in just Personal Training & Boot Camps. This is a gym where people come for the atmosphere, the coach, the workout, and the teammates.

Let me also go back to the Topic of Sean Mangialardo of Cresa Partners, my commercial agent. This process took time and work & Sean was professional, hard working, highly knowledgeable, personal, persistent, & reliable. Sean listened to my vision, answered all my questions, supported the path of my company, & helped turn it into a reality. Even after the deal he is continuing to see the small details through to the end. SEAN......THANK YOU! If you are looking for a commercial agent for Large-Small projects I highly highly reccommend him.


I just finalized the deal today at Noon & can't wait to train & inspire as many clients as possible in this space! The exciting part....I'm just getting started on all the things I want to do with Sweat, this is just the beginning & I hope to share these experiences with you!
